The Fate of Ben Cousins

Heraclitus a Greek philosopher once said “A Mans Character is his Fate” That seems like a tough call considering that it also points out that by changing ones character is also hopefully to change ones destiny in life.

Ben Cousins is high profile AFL footballer who has found himself in some extraordinary circumstances recently. You may wish to read up on the events surrounding one of the West Coast Eagles “favourite sons”.

I am a devout West Coast Eagles fan and have followed the series of events surrounding Ben with great interest. I think Ben Cousins is a very interesting person indeed, including his abilities on the football field. I am especially interested in the way he vigorously displays his personal belief about ‘destiny’ in the form of a tattoo emblazoned over his abdomen.

Such is Life

It seems that Ben Cousins has indeed been on a roller coaster ride of extremes over the last several years. Let us have quite a different look at the possibilities of his personality and fate via the ancient art of Astrology.

Unfortunately I am limited in outlining astrological aspects of Ben Cousins because I do not have his accurate birth time. There is however a way to determine some quite accurate astrological statements about his personality.

Ben Cousins Chart 30th June 1978 Perth (12:00 Noon Chart)

By isolating combinations of planetary configurations in the chart it is possible to determine several ‘drives’ in Ben’s personality. For instance the connection between Venus and Neptune says about his co-dependence in relationships and seeing others through “rose coloured glasses”.

Moon and Chiron point to a deep sense of abandonment usually involved with early nurturing. The pain involved in relational breakdowns can be severe with this aspect. Emotional expression can only be achieved in some alchemic manner such as through music, sex or relational issues. The Moon/Chiron represents disruption of early nurturing, the mother’s pain and rejection by women.

A good thing for Ben is that the above aspect which represents hurts and rejections in life is also associated to Mars the planet of aggression and anger. In some way Ben can achieve a catharsis via talking about his pain or indeed belting it out on the football field. Ben has received good role modeling to express his feelings although he tends to carry the pain and hurts of his Mother’s experiences. He is angry for her. Unchecked the negative possibilities of this aspect, points to domestic violence and "Survival Anger". Unfairness seems to prevail for Ben's outcomes in life and that includes his latest wrongfull arrest for Valium. In time and with transcendence of this trait, Ben Cousins has the potential to be a great teacher or healer with regard to pain and anger.

The Midpoint interpretation of Saturn = Venus/Mars relates to a pathological or abnormal sexual expression. Also there can be inhibitions in his love life and the tendency for adultery.

Mars = Venus/Nodes is also about the idea of progeny, a passionate inclination and physical attraction alone.

Nodes = Jupiter/Neptune relates to placing false hopes on ones associations, also associations with swindlers and speculators.

Saturn = Sun/Pluto is about being able to ruthlessly overcome obstacles and difficulties in life, restriction, separation and imprisonment.

Busted

Jupiter = Sun/Mercury having an optimistic attitude to life, a good thinker and organizer, good connections, protection and sponsorship.

As a professional Astrologer I am confident these few personality descriptions have a good deal of accuracy. This year Ben Cousins has experienced what Astrologers know as the Saturn Return. The cycles of Saturn can surprisingly enough, reflect the same time frame in years as developmental psychology. That is, the developmental stages in life.

The Saturn return is about understanding ones limitations in life. Where a person accepts and learns about responsibility. Maturation can come about in many ways, however usually the Saturn return at the age of 29-30 requires standing alone in the world and facing up to ones responsibilities. It is not usually an easy time for anyone.

There is one very unusual phenomenon in Ben Cousin’s astrology chart which outlines his strong adherence to his belief about life. “Such is life”. Bens tattoo is in a way reinforcing his defensive mechanism to be as strong as he can to face life’s difficulties and to just accept them too. Ben has the phenomena of the "Saturn Chasing Moon".

The Saturn Chasing Moon is very rare in Astrology and it is the relationship between transiting Saturn and the Progressed Moon. Both these points travel at about the same rate over many years. For Ben Cousins it seems to show challenging aspects for some time to come. The 'Chasing' Moon is like being stalked by some kind of fate or destiny. There is no telling how long this will last, except if he takes it up with an astrologer perhaps.

Ben Cousins will do well to be focused and tough to deal with unprecedented challenges that have the potential to come his way. Even if Ben Cousins is on the straight and narrow, conforming to society’s mores it seems that he will be dealing with troublesome life circumstances. His tattoo is like a mantra, a symbol to ward of evil spirits and a statement to life’s ongoing presenting problems-“Whatever; You Can’t Destroy Me” to the Saturn Chasing Moon and other authorities. A very difficult Saturn return for him indeed.

Ken,

Wow, an astrologer as well. I have seen you mention before that you have had a number of different careers. I am dead impressed.

Do you bring astrology readings into your therapy sessions or do you keep them separate?

Hi Kahless, I see you are back from Russia. I hope you didn't have a ciggerette at the kremlin like that reprter did.

I keep the two separate Kahless, although sometimes an astrology clients comes over to the other side. I tend to work more so with Psychotherapy these days. I do love using astrology though.

Hi, Kennoath. I went to this interactive internet site once to get an astrology wheel like the one you have displayed. I couldn't make heads or tales of what it was saying! How long did it take you to learn this and was this something you had interest in when you were very young?

Hi Lynn, yes it is very complicated looking at the charts. When I was younger I would always read the horoscopes in womens weekly and later as a young adult read Linda Goodmans Star Signs.

It was a fascinating way to understand personality and my interactions with different peoples signs. It seemed to make sense to me. I studied for a very long time after deciding to be more involved. Probably at least 6 years before I qualified with Federation of Australian Astrologers. The exams were quite hard.

Hi Ken,

I read about the reporter doing that and getting arrested; AFTER I had done it myself! Really. I did mention it in my Russia post.

I am a dork sometimes.

I just came from Kahless's place about Astrology. Wow, i forgot you were/are into it. I'm with Lynn, i've tried to inquire; to find out stuff but it's way 'out there' for me to understand.

I don't know why but as i was reading your post and these comments, i wondered what your thingy was/is - mantra is it?

Graffiti's is - "When was the last time you did something for the first time?"

I don't know what mine is. Do you know what your's is?

Hi Roses, yes I agree Astrology is in the metaphysical realms and indeed "out there".

I am not sure about my Mantra roses because I think mantra tends to act like a shield, or how one might describe persona. Its perhaps reveals more sublte aspects of the person like a Mandala might. Then again we can have healing mandala's too, rather than defensive shields. My healing mandala and mantra might be a big white flag with the words "I LOVE"

Hi Ken
Your healing mandala / mantra 'I LOVE' thats beautiful.

btw, thanks for your comment but you have thrown me. What does "available" mean? ;-)

kenoath said...

Thanks Kahless,

what I mean about available is that you are "there" available for others. That is what I sense about your comments and associations on the blogosphere. perhaps even a dependably kind of available.

You did say only one word mate.

Thank you Ken; I appreciate your comment.

In my twenties I bought myself an ephemeris and a chunky book on casting horoscopes. I managed to do my own but I never had the patience to get into it further than that.

So hats off to you.
