Child Power

Child Power has much to say about hope, needs, intuition and inner equality. This photograph equates the final stages and outright confidence (perhaps bragging) of the childs resolve to counter - Parent injunctions and Parent Contracts. Perhaps this photo also represents my belief in child power and the 'weight' of individuality. (press photo to go larger)

A great photo indeed. I have an instructor at school who has a very young, less than five?, years old daughter. I was amazed by how much power she had over her life whie I was listenning to some of their experiences and life-stories.

Sorry, my comment might not be much of a help right now, but I want to state I understand what you are saying. (hopefully?)

best,
Maryam.

Hi Maryam, your comments are always insightful and welcome. I guess one could look at the picture either way Maryam. I tend to see both the raw power of children too, however I also saw the free child in the picture. The Child part redeciding about her life in view of somewhat heavier older psychological constructs. That is, the Drivers and Injunctions taken on board with regard to early verbal and preverbal messages. The child may seem "out of power" in relation to her position on the seesaw (Laws of Physics out of kilter here) but still she holds parental object up in the air. The child or child within is showing off her power to "be her" I think?

Super photo. Interesting to think on.

I also notice in the picture that there is much weight on the seesaw - at both the ends. She (the child) only seems displaced. When she's on the same side as the Parent, i would think that would be a tad scary?

Ken, i hope you had a great easter and a nice week. It's Friday - hope tonight is fun and the weekend ends up worth the week it took to get it here.
